Job Summary

As a Senior High Performance Computing Engineer within the
Research Computing group at the University of Colorado Boulder
this position enjoys the opportunity to work with cutting edge
technology, nearby national labs, and world class faculty and
researchers.

This position contributes to CU-Boulder's mission of transforming
how teaching, discovering and knowledge sharing occurs by
providing technical leadership in the deployment and management of
CU-Boulder's Research Computing infrastructure, including the
Science Network, storage, and grid or cloud services.

Who we are:

The Research Computing (RC) group at the University of Colorado
Boulder provides support and training for computational needs
beyond researchers' desktops.

RC supports about 1500 researchers with services that include
large-scale computing, storage of research data, high-speed
networking, consulting and training, and partnering on grant
proposals.

The Research Computing group operates the Janus supercomputer
consisting of 1368 compute nodes, and the PetaLibrary storage
system, a National Science Foundation-subsidized service for the
storage and archival of research data.

Our Senior HPC Engineer enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with
world class faculty and researchers across a variety of fields.

In support of furthering research computing at CU-Boulder this
position provides technical leadership in the deployment and
management of CU-Boulder's Research Computing infrastructure,
including the Science Network, storage, and grid or cloud
services.

The position provides senior-level expertise and strategic
vision to RC service planning and implementation and will
coordinate all Science Network related applications across the
CU-Boulder campus.

Duties include user consulting, system administration, system
design, and system performance monitoring.

Architecture, Hardware and Software Evaluation

* Coordinate evaluation of architectures, hardware, and software
products to determine the applicability to the research computing
group's mission and projects.

Make recommendations to the supervisor, director and
executive-level management.

Consulting & Analysis

* Define and specify Science Network services by working with
campus stakeholders to establish needs and objectives, performing
analysis that considers the existing environment, overall
university research needs, and available technologies, then fully
articulating and communicating program and service strategies.

Research Computing System Administration

* Participate in implementation and general operational management
of Research Computing infrastructure.

Strategic Planning

* Participate in strategic planning for computing, storage,
networking and visualization capabilities of research computing.

Student Employee Supervision  10%

* Manage a small group of student system administrators.

What we can offer:

Annual salary up to $100,000 commensurate with skills and
experience.
